Neuer Flugtermin / New departure date

Heute bekam ich die Nachricht, dass mein Abflugtermin auf den 20. August vor verlegt wurde. Um 9.00 Uhr treffen sich alle Austauschschüler am Flughafen und um 12.00 Uhr geht der Flieger. Etwa 14.30 Uhr Ortszeit kommen wir in New York an.
Es ist soo aufregend, jetzt brauch ich nur noch eine Gastfamilie... :)

Today I got the message, that my departure date was antedated to the 20th august. At 9.00 am all the exchange students  meet at the airport and at 12.00 am the flight starts. About 2.30 pm local time we will arive in New York.
This is soo exciting. Now I just need a host family... :)

Also heute hatte ich Geburtstag und bin jetzt endlich 16 :D
Ich bin zwar im Urlaub in Dänemark, aber trotzdem war es ein sehr schöner Tag. Wir waren am Vormittag im Pool baden und am Nachmittag ist das Wetter schön gewesen und nicht so windig und deswegen konnten wir sogar im Meer baden. Es war ein super Tag und ich habe auch sehr schöne Geschenke bekommen. Vielen Dank für diesen schönen Tag ;-)

So today is my Birthday and now I'm finally 16 years old :D
Although I'm on vacations in Denmark, I had a very nice day. In the morning we went swimming in the pool and in the afternoon the weather was nice and not too windy so that we could even swim in the ocean. It was a great day and I got nice presents, too. Thank you so much for the nice day ;-)

Konsulat / Consulate

Soo... nach sehr langer Zeit melde ich mich auch mal wieder. Heute war ich im Konsulat in Berlin um mein Visum zu beantragen. Ehrlich gesagt, hatte ich schon vorher sehr viel Angst davor. Ich hatte jedoch die Hoffnung, dass mein Papa mit kommt und mir zur Not helfen kann. Schließlich bin ich ja noch 15 und somit eigentlich noch ein Kind.
Ich musste um 5 Uhr morgens aufstehen, was im allgemeinen eine ziemlich unbequeme Zeit zum aufwachen ist. Dann sind wir um kurz nach halb nach Berlin aufgebrochen. Dort kamen wir um 7 an und haben erstmal noch eine halbe Stunde im Auto geschlafen.
Schließlich stiegen wir aus und gingen zum Konsulatsgebäude. Dort war schon draußen eine lange Schlange wartender Leute. Meine Nervosität stieg an, aber ich hatte ja Papa, dachte ich. Bloß das Security Personal sah das etwas anders. Und da stand ich, in einer vierer Gruppe, alleine, im kleinen Häuschen, wo die Sicherheitskontrolle durchgeführt wurde. Zum Glück war da noch ein anderes Mädchen in meinem Alter, was auch ein Jahr als Austauschschülerin in den USA machen möchte in meiner Gruppe. Ich habe mich gut mit ihr verstanden und zu zweit war auch die komplizierte Wegbeschreibung, die uns gegeben wurde nur halb so schlimm. Es war eine eigenartige Beschreibung und obwohl wir fast alles falsch gemacht haben, kamen wir relativ gut bei der nächsten, unendlichen Schlange an. Aber da wir zu zweit waren, hat sich auch dieses Warten verkürzt. Am ersten Schalter musste ich einige Dokumente, einen Umschlag und meinen Pass abgeben. Dann habe ich einen blauen Zettel bekommen den ich mir durchlesen sollte während ich auf den Stühlen platz nehme und warte bis ich namentlich aufgerufen werde. Auf dem Zettel stand genau das drauf, nämlich dass ich auf den Stühlen platz nehmen soll und warten soll, bis ich namentlich aufgerufen werde. Das geschah ,im Gegensatz zum ersten Schalter, relativ schnell und auch hier brauchte ich nicht viel Zeit. Als erstes musste ich meine Finger scannen lassen und dann zwei Fragen beantworten: "Was möchtest du in den USA machen" (- "Ich möchte ein Austauschjahr in einer öffentlichen High School machen") und "Wohin genau soll die Reise gehen?" (- "Ich weiß es leider noch nicht, weil ich noch keine Familie habe") Danach musste ich den blauen Zettel abgeben und durfte gehen.
Also das ist jetzt vielleicht etwas viel Text bezogen auf einen einfachen Konsulat Besuch, aber ich fand es eigentlich ganz cool.

After a very long time I'm writing again... :) Today I went to the consulate in Berlin to apply for my visa. To be honest: I was super frightened even before going to Berlin. But at least I hoped my dad would accompany me and help me if need be, because I'm just 15 and – so to say – still a child.

I had to get up at 5 am, which is generally a rather uncomfortable time for getting up. About half an hour later we left towards Berlin. We arrived there at about 7 am and slept about another 30minin the car.

Finally we got out of the car and went to the consulate building. There already was a long line of people waiting outside. I got more and more nervous but at least there was my dad, coming with me, so I thought. But the Security staff thought differently: I wasn't allowed to take my dad with me. And there I was, alone in a group of four people, in a little house where they do the security check. Fortunately, there was another girl, who is going abroad to the U.S. as an exchange student for a year, too. We got along with her quite well and together even the very complicated directions, which were given to us, were easier to understand. Although they were really strange and although we did almost everything wrong, we reached the next long line pretty fast. But as we were together, the waiting time wasn't too long. At the first counter I had to hand in a few documents, an envelope and my passport. Then I received a blue piece of paper , which I was told to read while sitting on one of the chairs and waiting until they call my name. The note said exactly the same: I should take a seat and wait until I'm called by name. This happened, compared to the first counter relatively fast and it didn't take much time there either. At first, my fingers got scanned and then I had to answer two questions: „What do you want to do in the USA?“ and „Where exactly are you going to?“ After that I had to give the blue piece of paper back and then I was done and went out the consulate.

OK, maybe this is a pretty long text just for a visit in the consulate, but actually it was a cool day :)

Kein Preplacement / No Preplacement

TravelWorks hat sich gemeldet. Mein preplacement funktioniert nicht. Es hat in der Tat  mit den Schulen zu tun. Es gäbe zwei Möglichkeiten. A) 10.000 $ extra bezahlen oder B) eine längere Busfahrt zu eine weiter entfernte Schule zu machen. Wir haben aber gesagt, dass wir beides nicht wollen und sie für mich ganz normal eine Familie suchen sollen wie sie es auch für andere Schüler machen. Ein Nachteil entsteht dabei nicht für mich.

TravelWorks called us. My preplacement seriously doesn't work. It has indeed something to do with the schools. We would have two solutions. A)to pay 10.000 $ extra or B) to do a longer way by bus to another school. But we said, that we don't want both and that they should look for another family like they do it with other students as well. There won't be a disadvantage for me.

Ein kleines Update / A little update

Ich weiß, dass ich viel zu lange nichts geschrieben habe. Das hat viele Gründe. Auf der einen Seite ist es ein Mangel an Informationen und auf der anderen (leider viel größeren) Seite ist es meine Faulheit :) Aber trotzdem habe ich den Blog nicht vergessen:
Eigentlich wollte ich vor einiger Zeit über den Kulturstreifzug nach Dresden erzählen, der von YFU (Felipes Organisation) organisiert wurden ist. Es ist nur leider etwas spät dafür, also fasse ich mich kurz. Ich fand den Kulturstreifzug sehr interessant, weil ich - glaube ich - vorher noch nie in Dresden war. Außerdem habe ich einige neue Leute aus der ganzen Welt kennen gelernt. Am besten habe ich mich mit Rii (Japan), Arthur (Brasilien), Sumire (Japan) und Laura (eine Gastschwester; Deutschland (-; ) verstanden. Es hat viel Spaß gemacht.
Desweiteren haben Samuel und ich angefangen zu wetten wann ich meine Gastfamilie bekommen werde. Samuel sagt im Juni und ich wollte eigentlich auch Juni sagen, da es aber schon vergeben ist, sage ich einfach mal Juli. Wie ich aber unsere Wetten kenne, wird es bestimmt im Mai oder August passieren ;-)

I know that I didn't write anything for too much time. I've got many reasons. On the one side it's the deficiency of information and on the other (unfortunately much bigger) side it's my laziness. But nevertheless I didn't forget the blog:
Actually I wanted to write about the weekend in Dresden(organized by YFU, Felipes Organisation) a little time ago. I think this weekend with YFU in Dresden was interesting, because I've never been in Dresden before (at least I think so) Besides I got to know new people from all over the world. Most I liked Rii (Japan), Arthur (Brazil), Sumire (Japan) and Laura (a host sister; Germany (-; ) It was a lot of fun.
In addition Samuel and I started to bet when I will know my host family. Samuel thinks in June. Since I actually wanted to say the same I had to chose something else and because of that I said July. But like I know us it will be something like May or August ;-)

Ferien / Vacations

Die letzte Woche waren Ferien. Ich liebe Ferien :P Aber ich hatte auch ziemlich viel für die Schule zu erledigen. Das ist etwas, was mich nervt, weil Ferien dafür da sind etwas Ruhe von der Schule zu bekommen und trotzdem haben Wir Hausaufgaben in Geo und Englisch bekommen. Und wie man mich kennt habe ich es versucht diese Aufgaben zu umgehen. Es hat nicht so gut funktioniert :-P
Trotzdem hatte ich auch Spaß in meinen Ferien. Ich habe viel Zeit mit meinen Freunden verbracht. Das ist auch immer das beste was man machen kann um von allem ein wenig Abstand zu bekommen.
Mein größtes Ereignis in den Ferien war daher zum einen das Treffen mit meiner Freundin Lisa. Hier sind ein Bild (im englischen Teil gibt es auch noch eins ;-))

Spiderman vs. Cro :P

Zum anderem fand ich auch meine Volti Stunde sehr cool diese Woche. Es fing zwar damit an, dass Maria und ich beim versuch die Pferde von der Koppel zu holen bis zum Knie im Schlamm standen und wir mehrere Stromschläge bekommen haben als wir versucht haben den Zaun auf zumachen, aber als uns gezeigt wurde, wie man den Strom abschalten kann ging es auch. Außerdem bin ich diese Woche zur Abwechslung mal nicht gefallen, was auch mal was schönes war :D
Alles im allen waren es super Ferien. Und Im zweiten Halbjahr gibt es ja viele Ferien, das heißt, dass ich mich jetzt von Ferien zu Ferien hangeln kann, bis die großen Sommerferien und mein großes Abenteuer beginnen kann.

Last week there were vacations. I love vacations :P But I also had to do pretty much things for school, too. That's something what annoys me, because vacations are supposed to be a rest from school and nevertheless I got homework for geographic and English. And as you know me, I tried not to do them, but it didn't work so good ^.^
Nevertheless I had fun on my vacation, too :D I spent a lot of time with my friends, which is the best thing to do if you want to get a little space.
Because of this my best event was on the one hand to meet my friend Lisa. Here is a pic (you will find anotherone in the German part)

Winter vs. Summer

On the other hand my equastrian vaulting lesson was very cool this week, too. Although Maria and me get totally wet when we tried to get the horses out of the paddock. And we got lots of electric shocks figuring out how to open the fence, but when someone showed us how to switch off the electricity it worked :D Besides I didn't felt off the horse as a little change, which was also very good :)
All in all it were great vacations and in the second half year there are many vacations, which means, that I can short the time to my big adventure by waiting for the next vacations all the time :D

Ja, ich lebe noch / Yes, I'm still alive

Es tut mir echt leid, dass ich so lange nichts mehr geschrieben habe. Aber es gab erstens kaum Neuigkeiten und zweitens als es welche gab habe ich mein Passwort vergessen :-P aber jetzt ist alles wieder gut.
Ich habe am Donnerstag einen Brief von TravelWorks bekommen mit Informationen über einen zwei-wöchigen Sprachkurs in Boston. Obwohl Boston ziemlich cool klingt, werde ich es nicht mitmachen, weil es ca. 3.000€ zusätzlich sind. Das ist etwas teuer. :)
Außerdem habe ich noch eine E-mail bekommen, wo die Termine für das Vorbereitungsseminar nochmal erwähnt werden. Ich werde am 26. Mai nach Berlin fahren. (Moment... hatte ich das nicht eigentlich schon geschrieben?)

I'm really sorry for not writing anything for such a long time. But there weren't any news to write about and when there were some news I couldn't write about it, because I forgot my keyword :-P but now everything is okay.
On Thursday I received a letter from TravelWorks with informations about a two-weeks language course in Boston. Although Boston sounds pretty cool, I won't do it, because 3.000€ are a little too expensive :)
Besides I got an e-mail with the dates of the preparation seminar again. I will go to Berlin on the 26th May. (Wait... didn't I already said that?)
