Happy Thanksgiving!

Wie Ihr wahrscheinlich alle wisst, ist Thanksgivving eins der wichtigsten Feiern in der Amerikanischen Kultur. Es ist sogar fast wichtiger als Weihnachten! Thanksgiving wird immer am vierten Donnerstag im November gefeiert und es gibt ein großes Treffen mit der Großfamilie kombiniert mit sehr viel essen - besonders Truthahn.
Am Donnerstag haben wir mit der Familie von meiner Gastmama gefeiert. Wir waren in Laura, Ohio weil da ihre Mama wohnt. Wir 'Kinder' haben sehr viel Zeit mit spielen verbracht und die Erwachsenen haben im Nebenzimmer erzählt. Leider ist das nicht komplet friedlich abgelaufen und wir mussten die Party früher verlassen als erwartet.
Am nächsten Tag haben wir Thanksgiving bei uns gefeiert. Diesmal kam die Familie meines Gastvaters vorbei. Wir haben spiele Gespielt und gegessen und es wurde ein sehr schöner, gemütlicher Abend.
Obwohl mein Thanksgiving wahrscheinlich nicht ganz der Norm entsprochen hat, war es trotzdem ein neue, große Erfahrung für mich.

As you guys probably all now, Thanksgiving is one of the most important occasion in the American culture. Its even almost more important than Christmas! Thanksgiving is celebrated on the fourth Thursday in November and there is a huge family reunion with the extended family combined with a lot of food - especially turkey.
On Thursday we celebrated with my host moms side of the family. We went to Laura, Ohio because her mom lives there. Us 'kids' spent a lot of time playing and the adults were talking in the other room. Unfortunately the talk didnt exactly go that well and we had to leave the party earlier than expected.
The next day we celebrated Thanksgiving at our place. This time with my host dads side of the family. We were playing board games and stuffing our selfs with delicious food enjoying the cozy night among our family.
Even though my Thanksgiving was probably not the standard, it was still a new and great experience to me.

Tar Hollow State Park

Lezte Woche waren wir das erste mal im Urlaub in Tar Hollow. Tar Hollow ist ein State Park im Süden Ohios.
Wärend die Männer mit den 'Christian Bow Hunter' mit Pfeil und Bogen jagen waren, sind wir Mädels in der Umgebung wandern gegangen. Ich fand die Natur wunderschön. Es hat mich ein kleines bisschen an die Natur in Tschechien errinert.
Gewohnt haben wir in einer Hütte. Sie war ziemlich groß und hatte sogar einen Whirlpool :D
Leider war die Woche mal wieder viel zu kurz

Last week was the first time going on vacation with my host family. We went to Tar Hollow, a State Park in south Ohio.
While the men went bow hunting for deer, us girls went hiking. I really liked the nature. It was beautiful and kind of reminding me of the Czech Republic.
We stayed in a cabin. It was a rather huge one with a TV and a ply room. It even had a whirlpool :D
I felt like this week was gone by too fast, though.

Erster Schnee / First day of snow

Homecoming

Homecoming ist ein großr Tanz der sehr typisch an Amerikanischen High School ist. Es ist ja auch aus vielen Amerikanischen Filmen bekannt.
Homecoming an unserer Schule war dieses Jahr unter dem Motto Dr. Seus, der bekannte Author von vielen Kinderbüchern wie der Grinch und Cat in the Hat.
Ich hatte leider kein Date oder so, sondern bin mit einer Gruppe Freunden gegangen.Wir hatten sehr viel Spaß und ich habe einige Line Dances gelernt.

Homecoming is a big dance close to the beginning of the school year. It is very typical for American High Schools and very famous since it is often shown in American movies.
This years Homecoming theme on our school was Dr. Seus, the famous author of children books who published books like 'the Grinch' and 'Cat in the Hat'
Unfortunately I didnt have no date or anything, but I just went with a group of friends and we had so much fun trying to do line dancing and all that. It was a blast!

Zelten im Garten / Camping in the yard

Gestern Abend hatten wir einen perfekten Mädels Abend. Da mein Gastvater das ganze Wochenende nicht da ist haben wir es uns gut gehen lassen. Zum Abendessen gab es Tacos (meine ersten) und es war sehr lecker. Dann haben wir ein kleines Feuer im Garten angezündet, ein Zelt aufgebaut und haben im Haus einen Film gesehen. Danach sind wir raus gegangen, haben Marshmallows geröstet und Musik gehört... Alles im Allen ein super witziger Abend... Die Bilder sagen alles! :P

Yesterday night we had a perfect girls night. Since my host dad isn't at home the whole weekend we made us a good time. We had Tacos for supper (my first Tacos ever) ad it was so yummy. Then we had a little fire in the back yard, pitched a tent and went back inside to watch a movie. After that we went outside again and roasted some Marshmallows and listened to music ... All in all it was a really funny night... The pictures say it all :P

Hochzeiten / Weddings

Weil alle anderen außer meiner Gastmutter und mir unterwegs waren und ich nicht allene zu Hausen sein kann bin ich mit auf eine Hochzeit gekommen, wo meine Gastmutter fotografiert hat. Es war eigentlich total langweilig, weil ich nichts zu tun hatte außer rumsitzen und nett gucken, aber das habe ich gelernt:
Hochzeiten in den USA sind im Grunde genommen sehr ähnlich zu unseren Hochzeiten. Die Unterschiede sind:
1. Der Bräutigam wirft nach der Hochzeit kein Kleingeld und
2. In den USA schmieren sich Braut und Bräutigam mit der Hochzeitstorte im Gesicht rum, was sehr komisch ist ;-)
Ich werde dieses Jahr wahrscheinlich noch viel mehr Hochzeiten von Leuten sehen, die ich weder kenne noch je wieder sehen werde :)

Because everyone except my host mum and me weren't at home and I can't be alone at home neither, I went with my host mum to a wedding, were she took pictures. Actually it was really boring, because I didn't have anything to do than sitting on a chair and smile, but this is what I've learned:
1st. The bridegroom didn't throw with chump change after the wedding and
2nd. In the U.S. the bride and the bridegroom spread each other with the cake, which is pretty funny ;-)
I guess I'll see many weddings from people I don't know and I'll never see again anyway :)

Schulfrei / Off school

Wir geplant bin ich auch heute um 5 wach geworden, aber heute war es härter... um 5.40 Uhr hieß es dann, dass wir zwei Stunden später Unterricht haben, weil der Nebel noch zu stark für die Busse war. Also haben wir es uns auf der Couch bequem gemacht und TV gesehen.
Als wir dann gefrühstückt haben und uns hübsch gemacht haben, weil heute eigentlich Foto Tag in der Schule ist, hat das Telefon geklingelt und uns wurde gesagt, dass die Schule ausfällt, weil der Nebel nach wie vor zu dicht ist.
Wir haben uns natürlich total gefreut und die Zeit wunderbar genutzt.. Naja ich habe auch mein Schulzeug sortieren müssen und die Zeit für den Blog genutzt, aber es war trotzdem sehr cool und lustig.
Mal sehen wie das Wetter morgen aussieht. Es ist unwahrscheinlich das wir nicht zur Schule müssen, aber wenn wir Glück haben müssen wir erst zwei Stunden später hin, was super wäre... Aber bis ich das weiß heißt es erstmal gute Nacht und Wecker auf um 5... :)

Like I'm supposed to I woke up today at 5 am again, but today it was much harder to get up... at 5.40 am they told us, that school is two hours later today, because there was too much fog for the buses. So we got cozy on the couch and  watched TV.
When we ate our breakfast and get our hair and outfit as beautiful as possible , because today is picture day at school, the phone rings and it was the school telling that schools off today because there was still to much fog.
We used the time to do great things. Well.. I also had to do something for school and used the time for this blog, too, but it was nevertheless very funny and cool.
Lets see what's the weather like tomorrow. It's unlikely that we don't need to school tomorrow again, but if we are lucky we have to go two hours later, which would be great.. But until than I have to say good night and have to set my alarm on 5 am again ... :)
